Surviving to Share

An estimated 203,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. We are concerned about your health, which is why we want to stress the importance of annual exams and monthly breast selfexams. Education is the key — the more women that are aware of their options, the more lives will be saved.

Breast cancer survivors in Northwest Georgia are invited to share their courageous stories with the community in an exciting contest that will deem three lucky winners and many local celebrities.

Send in your story (when you were diagnosed, your treatment timeline, your support system, how you feel today, advice to others) in a story not to exceed three typed written, double spaced pages. Please enclose a photo of you and your family. Send your story, photo and the attached application form to:

Three contestants will be selected to share their stories with the community through radio, newspaper and television. These three stories of survival will serve to give hope and inspiration to many.

Awards Dinner: All breast cancer survivors participating in the contest will be honored at a special awards dinner. During this evening, three winners will be announced and will receive an award for their courage in fighting breast cancer as well as their willingness to share their stories of survival.

Barnsley Gardens: One of the sponsors of this event, Barnsley Gardens, will offer the three selected contestants a gift package
which includes a two-night stay for the winners and a guest in their luxurious cottages.

The deadline to enter is September 20, 2010. Winners will be announced at the Surviving to Share awards dinner on October 5, 2010. Contestants will be featured in the media during the month of October 2010. Those who entered their stories last year, but were not chosen as one of the four winners, are encouraged to enter the contest again this year.
